When an administrator unpublishes a hike

What it means, what you can still do, and how to reach us.

What happened

An administrator removed your hike from the public directory and search. This is different from unpublishing it yourself — it's marked with an administrative hold, and only an administrator can lift it.

Your draft is still yours

Nothing about your draft changes. You can keep editing it — the summary, route, stops, photos and quiz all stay open to you — exactly as you left things before the hold.

Publishing is unavailable until the hold is lifted

While the hold is in place, the Publish button is replaced with a notice that an administrator has unpublished the hike. Publishing stays unavailable until an administrator lifts the hold; lifting it does not publish the hike for you; you (or an administrator) still take that step separately, once you're both ready.

Transferring or handing off the hike is also on hold

While the hold is in place, you can't send this hike to another maintainer, and nobody can adopt it. The hike's Transfer page in My Hikes says so instead of showing the offer form. Those resume as soon as the hold is lifted.
